VOW – Statement on Syria

Justin Trudeau has shown his true colours in his complete flip-flop on what The Canadian Voice of Women for Peace (VOW) calls for below. He lacks the spine of his father, who in part was willing to stand up to U.S. Empire. Without doubt, he will also bless (has done so already?) the MOAB dropped in Afghanistan. Given his flip-flop on Syria, he will no doubt next bless the use of nuclear weaponry wherever Madman Trump decides to hurl it/them.

For immediate release.

The Canadian Voice of Women for Peace (VOW) calls for the immediate cessation of violence by all parties. We want no more strikes, an investigation by UN experts into the use of chemical weapons, and immediate commencement of peace negotiation by all parties to the conflict, including the participation of women.

VOW strongly denounces the US missile attack on a Syrian airbase and Prime Minister Trudeau’s support for this act of retaliation.

This unilateral action on the part of the United States will undoubtedly lead to greater violence, civilian deaths, increase in the numbers of refugees and a rise in terrorist attacks.

VOW calls for an independent investigation and fact-finding mission into the chemical weapon attack, as it has not been established who is actually responsible.  The mission must be led by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) that oversees the Chemical Weapons Convention.  Under the Chemical Weapons Convention, there are there are several mechanisms for dealing with contravention of the CWC, including reference to the UN Security Council. We urge Canada to see that all non-violent steps are taken to bring to justice those who used chemical weapons..

VOW further opposes the Prime Minister’s’ recent statement calling for the exclusion of President Bashar al-Assad “in the path to peace”.  The only way to peace is through dialogue supported by the wishes of the Syrian people, including women as called for in the UN Security Council Resolution 1325.

VOW denounces the violence perpetrated by all sides of the protracted civil war.  Every life lost is tragic.

al-Assad answers completely accurately in the interview below in response to Question 7: But do you think that there will be another attack?:

President Assad: As long as the United States is being governed by this complex of military industrial complex, the financial companies, banks, and what you call deep regime, and works for the vested interest of those groups, of course. It could happen anytime, anywhere, not only in Syria.

One thing is certain: Trump has shown himself to have been a Supreme Liar from the moment he opens his mouth…
